.eight months old.

Kaiya turned 8 months old on May 14!!!  It's been so fun to watch her grow the past 8 months, we can only imagine what it'll be like to continue to see her grow.  Every night, when she sleeps, we both look at her and can't believe how big she is getting.  You can see more and more of her personality everyday...while some minute she's doing the silliest things, the next she's crying for mommy.  Speaking of crying for mommy...have I mentioned that she's been saying "mamamamam".  Right...I know she's not really saying mama...but when she's crying and looking around for me and saying it, I can imagine she's calling me, right?

Anyway, we spent the morning at the beach since Kaiya LOVES it there.  She loves the sun, the sand, and the sea!  She was all laughs when daddy was helping her "swim".  Looks like someone has to take swimming lessons soon!  Maybe mommy should too!  haha.
Here's Kaiya just waking up from a power nap during the car ride over, which takes about 10-15 minutes.
kaiya+daddy
kaiya+mommy
The tide was really low when we first got there, so we decided to just play on the sand for a while.

Then daddy buried Kaiya in the sand...
...she didn't seem to mind.
And of course, she passed out on the ride home and slept in her carseat for a while after we got home.
When she woke up, she had an early bath and we headed over to Grandma Barbara and Papa Harry's for dinner.  And since we didn't take her sticker pictures yet, we took them over there.  Let me tell you, these pictures are getting harder and harder to take...especially since she's mobile.  So excuse the blurriness, it's because she WON'T. KEEP. STILL.  Happy 8 Month Birthday Baby!!!

.kaiya goes for a walk.

Mommy and daddy decided to take Kaiya on a walk along the Koloa bypass.  It has a great view of the south side of Kauai.  And it's the way daddy goes to work everyday.  It was a great walk for mommy and daddy, a little over 2 miles.  Kaiya tested out the BOB's ability to do a little off-roading on loose gravel and grass.  Best stroller EVER!  It's our new go-to stroller, we take it everywhere...and it will be coming with us on our trip next week to New Mexico.  Maybe we can test it out in some snow, depending on the weather.

Here's some pictures of the view during our walk.  Both of the south shore...and the view mommy had of Kaiya.  By the way, the walk was so tiring for Kaiya, she fell asleep about half-way through.  Tough life.

.miss kaiya hearts the o-ball and sttn.

we’ve been trying to get kaiya to play with toys…eventhough she would much rather watch tv.  so on our trip to oahu this past weekend, we picked up a pink o-ball with some $$ papa harry gave her.  we’re not quite sure that she gets it, but when she finds it in her hands she doesn’t let go and shakes it so the little balls rattle.  here’s a few pictures of her figuring it out/playing with it/examining it.

sttn=sleeping through the night.  i better knock on wood. *knock knock knock* for the past few weeks she’s only been waking up once…anywhere from 3-6 a.m.  she usually eats for 15-20 minutes and is right back asleep.  but there are times where i’ll put her back down and she smiles and smiles like it’s play time.  so i’ll feed her a little more and rock her in the chair (from great-grandpa yarnell) until she falls back asleep.
naps on the other hand….totally different story.  she’ll take a nap…but only if someone is carrying her or if she’s in the ergo carrier.  the ergo carrier is a life saver!!!  we’ve tried out about three different types (sleepy wrap, baby hawk mei tai carrier, and ergo carrier) and she only likes this one.  hopefully as she gets older she’ll like the other ones.  if not, maybe the next baby will like them…or we can hand me down to someone who’s baby does.
she’s pretty good at holding up her head, but we need to work on tummy time.  she usually gets frustrated after a couple minutes.  maybe i’ll post about that tomorrow…
